In Bad Games, the Lamberts weren't safe at the family cabin.
Now they aren't safe anywhere.

Playtime is not over...

In Autumn of 2008, the Lambert family headed to western Pennsylvania for a weekend getaway to the family cabin.

They visited hell instead.

The Fannelli brothers. Two psychopaths who believed themselves exceptional, put on this Earth for the soul purpose of tormenting others for their own amusement. To make people play their twisted games.

Except the Lamberts managed the impossible. They played the game and survived. Showed the Fannelli brothers that they'd messed with the wrong family.

However, the game is far from over. There are some new players in town. Players who appear to have close ties to the Fannelli brothers. Players who are taking things very personally...and promising results that are very deadly.

If you thought you'd glimpsed evil before, prepare to plummet headfirst into the abyss as award-winning author Jeff Menapace shows you a new level of fear and heart-stopping suspense.

Let the vengeful games begin...

Vengeful Games A Dark Psychological Thriller Bad Games Series Book 2 eBook Jeff Menapace

Book two of the Bad Games series is about a barrage of psychological warfare aimed at the Lamberts. Everything that could go wrong does go wrong, and not insignificant things, but each one a life changing event. Life changing in horrible ways. The first chunk of the book was a little bit of a chore for me to get through because of the ... sadness ... but I'm glad I stuck with it.

The story then speeds up and never takes its foot off the gas, driving you right into your worst nightmare. Just when you think it can't possibly get any worse, it does. Then you think that it's over, but it's not. When you think there can't be any more twists, there are. You won't want to miss this one. I'm sitting here trying to write this review but find myself drifting off, speculating what could happen in book three, which I am going to start in just a few minutes. I can't get enough of this series.

KUDOS TO MR MENAPACE ON ANOTHER HARD, FAST EDGE OF YOUR SEAT NOVEL. AGAIN, LIKE HIS LAST NOVEL, I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN IF I TRIED. THERE WERE A FEW PLACES WHICH SURPRISED ME (or maybe I should say disappointed me, as a reader,) NEVERTHELESS, HE, THE AUTHOR HAS WHAT IT TAKES, AND APPARENTLY IS RUNNING WITH IT! 😈 ON TO BOOK 3!!!
I loved the first Bad Games, it was one of the only times I couldn't put the book down. That being said vengeful games was a good follow up, not great, but good. The follow up to one of my favorite books I've read in the past five years, told an interesting story from start to finish, gave us more revolting horrific characters and caught us up with a family we felt like we fought and bled with at crescent lake. What kept this book from being great to me, was the fact it didn't have the same claustrophobic feel that mixed well with the almost feeling of experiencing what the characters were going through. It also felt as though everything was too open and too easily foreshadowed, and the new villains though great, were never fully explained and had a little too much equipment at their disposal to make for a real taught twist at every corner thriller. All in all, I did really enjoy this book, it's most definitely worth your time if you were a fan of the first and I'll definitely check out hell bent.
Vengeful Games picks up the tale of the Lambert family as they try to live their lives following the horrific experience at the hands of the Fanelli brothers, Arty and Jim. With Jim dead and buried, Arty is visited by a beautiful woman who turns out to be his biological sister, Monica. Turns out, Jim and Arty's penchant for sadism is genetic, as Monica is a deadly contract killer with high end connections. If Monica wasn't deadly enough, the patriarch of the family, John is an assassin as well. The entire clan is United in one cause continuing the game against the Lamberts that put Jim in the ground and Arty behind bars.
Menapace does a masterful job with the pacing of the story. It's a gripping page turner that's momentum makes it hard to put down. Monica and John are great characters-cold and calculating killers that are always two moves ahead and make few mistakes.
The only thing that keeps me from rating it five stars is that one has to go into the book with a suspension of disbelief. Are we really to believe that Patrick would drool over the sight of Monica at a funeral, yet when Arty first sees her, she's the spitting image of his brother Jim (who tortured Patrick and Amy throughout Bad Games). She's not Lon Chaney, just a knockout with colored contacts and a wig. Also, Patrick has his presentation at work sabotaged. How about using a flash drive or better yet, show up early and go over your Powerpoint presentation beforehand?
This story reminds me so much of a train ride...it starts out very slow, but then builds up speed until it is rocketing down the track at warp speed....this author can truly make you lose sleep with his stories....I read the first book, Bad Games, and was impressed with the writing & the pace and loved the characters, Patrick & Amy & how they dealt with the psychopathic Fanelli brothers....this story just picks up where the first left off but also introduces new characters, good & evil. The only thing I did not like was the ending...that completely surprised me...but I can really see this trilogy being a great movie or TV series...Kudos to the author.
i usually write reviews to those books that i LOVE and stay clear to any that i might bash......this one might be an exception.....i LOVED book #1....it was fast paced and it showed the true brothers and how lethal they were.....book 2 comes out and i'm reading it and reading it and i am waiting for daddy and daughter to be sooooo twisted and it just doesn't show.....****SPOILER*****.........they kill dog by poison? even the killing of wifes daddy isn't just "lethal" enough....c'mon, used to twisted and book 2 kept me thinking i was reading a LIFETIME script....all the way through it pans out.....after about 90% of the book is read, they introduce new people (body guards) to the book that were brought in this late only as token to introduce one of them being bad assed enough to be in book 3.....even the revenge killings were not as drawn out as book #1....it was fight, wrestle, shoot-dead....what? that's it? i like the book and because i read #1 and LOVED it and set through this thing, yea, i'm reading book #3 but after 2? i'm kinda glad it ends at 3 regardless of how this one pans out......
The sequel is more interesting, intriguing and believable than the first book that's for certain. In comparison, this one has the twist of 2 additional killers that have the same heart as Arty concerning the Lamberts, which sells the book on overall appeal. Also, there are less boring patches. I was only somewhat wowed by this particular book; I'm more partial to some of his other books. However, I think Menapace must be applauded for "Amy's reason for wanting to leave protection." Some may say it's too unlikely a scenario but it's really not, and it has a big part of "making" the last stretch of the book.

Two major points It is not a good standalone. If you liked book 1, this one is better. If you hated book 1, don't bother.
