"Children of Saba draws on ancient African legends to recreate the glory
and majesty of a prodigious continent." - The Guardian UK.

"Sensually provocative, visually breath-taking, and relentlessly
suspenseful!" - Top 500 reviewer.

An ancient race responsible for throwing shadows on time's dawn bequeaths one family with a legacy so powerful it could end all existence as we know it.

The problem is the family doesn't have a clue of what the inheritance is. It’s a mystery so primeval and unutterable that it has faded from the present-now.

Worse still, the darkest power in the universe seeks the bequest for itself. Immortal and potent beyond measure, it will not be stopped in the past, present or future until it has the enigmatic legacy in its control. It has hunted down each heir of this mysterious treasure through the ages with no success. The secret has remained hidden well. Until the present time.

The entity has now set its sights on the Munene family, in particular seventeen year old twins’ Mwenda and his sister Kendi. After their parents are kidnapped in a bid to reveal what they know of the long lost and forgotten family secret, the twins are forced into hiding at their grandmother’s remote farm on the edge of Kenya's Rift Valley.

Under the growing cloud of darkness that seeks to envelop the earth, they meet a mysterious ageless man - The Guardian Monk - and are unwittingly catapulted into the past, almost 3000 years back in time.

They find themselves in the magnificent Kingdom of Sheba where their reception is less than welcome.

Why were they sent into the past? What is the twin's link to the First Men? What is the secret that the ancient dark entity scoured the earth and heavens for in antiquity and seeks in the present day?

With many questions and trouble hot on their feels, they're forced to outrun and outsmart their foes, joining forces with the fiercely beautiful Queen of Sheba and her elite Meroë Nthaka warriors in battling her enemies who seek her throne and access to the twins’ secret.

In this race through time, will they discover their legacy in time to save their parents and the humanity - past, present and future - from an unimaginable cataclysm?

The author, N.K. Read, composed a very well-written book with Children of Saba. The plot is dynamic and intense throughout. The way the African settings were described were very detail-oriented and rich. It really took you into a time and place that, though unknown, seemed very familiar and comforting. Children of Saba The Epic of Aphrike Trilogy Book 1 eBook NK Read Reviews

I like the story in Children of Saba. My only complaint is there are too many characters being introduced all the time and, since a lot of them have similar names, it gets a bit confusing at times. Other than that, the story is compelling and the characters colorful. That combined with a sprinkling of history, made this a very enjoyable read. I was sorry when it ended. I'm now reading the second installment of the series.
Great story and really involving the only problem I had were the many typos fix them up and this book would be one of my greatest read, it would also make a Great movie
Amazing and compelling African fantasy novel!!
Africa has waited long for an epic of this nature and excellence. Read's Children of Saba is thoroughly researched and opens to the world s forgotten history of her Meru or Meroe people, proud inhabitants of the North Eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya. The story is told with the proportions that make one travel back in time to catch the glimpse of a civilization so rich with values and pride. Only Wilbur Smith's River God and The Seventh Scroll can match Children of Saba. Great writing from a great writer. Must read!
I first heard of this book from a friend, who told me that I had to read it immediately. It's a brilliant tale of adventure, childhood musings, first loves and history.

Best of all, it's set in Kenya, bringing to light the wonderful landscapes and people of the country. From the posh living of Nairobi to up-country Isiolo, and then to their wild deporting into a land far far away, the book illustrates the adventures and wanderings of the two protagonists- Kendi and Mwenda.

It brings to mind other authors such as Wilbur Smith and Enid Blyton who captured our hearts as children (and even as adults), weaving magical tales and leaving me yearning for more.

I wholly recommend this book, and I can't wait for the next book by N.K. Read!
I am a Meru by tribe( Meroe) and i have been searching for a deeper and clearer history of my people... this is one book that should be developed into a film like yesterday.. many people don't have access to books, others have no time or love for reading books. This is a world book and should reach billions of people out there but most especially Africans.

When i started to read , i thought the author would run out of her beautiful literal expressions but i am awed by the beauty of this uniformity of such deep and richly woven literal expressions.

The historical, geographical and literaly facts are amazingly brought out and she has created in me such a fire to dig up more of the past on Africa.

I am looking forward to the " Film" and the next series...
Beautiful, fantastic work!!!!
From the beginning with the description of Nairobi to the description of the kingdom of Saba thousands years ago, I have been hooked. I have been waiting for a long time to read a fantasy book made by an African writer based on African lore and cultural background and I have not been disappointed. N.K Read put the bar really high and I cannot wait to join her again in her wonderful world. The teaser for the next book at the end just blew me away, it is going to be a great read too. This book is amazing no matter where you come from, you will enjoy the fantasy, the action and the world that is depicted so do not hesitate.
